More Big Bad Business

Verizon has screwed me in so many ways over the past two weeks, I can't even see straight. Just to keep you up to date, after the events of last week, my phone line has been completely destroyed, DSL has been cancelled and reordered, and I've been on the phone for at least 400 hours and spoken with at least 30 people who could care less about my situation(s).
Yesterday a Verizon repair guy came to fix my line (3 days later than he was supposed to), and he couldn't figure out what the problem was. After telling me he needed to string a new line, he left and scheduled a return visit for today. A few hours later, my landlord and I had the line working. We simply found the line in the basement, saw that it was damaged, and rewired it. Now I have a phone line. No thanks to big red.
A few days before that, I was told that my DSL service, which Verizon cancelled because of the problems last week, was being reinstated. I asked how long that would take. They said because I had already had it, it would only take two days to turn it back on. After an hour on the phone last night holding, I was told by another representative that that information is bull shit. My DSL service won't be activated until February 26.
At least I have a phone now, though, so I'm not completely without the Internet. Remind me again why I went with Verizon? And furthermore, why I didn't cancel with them the moment this stuff started happening?
Oh, and in case anyone wants it, I'm gonna go ahead and post the number to the executive office for Verizon in the NY Metro area. They are at least better at handling problems: 1-800-483-7988. Yeah, they don't want people to know that number.

The fact that you're asking this (unless it's rhetorical) would indicate that there actually is an alternative to Verizon in your area. In that case, I'm at just as big of a loss as you are. :)

Yes, sadly, there are alternatives in our area. I could have had ATT&T as a local service, and as far as DSL goes I could have had Earthlink, Verizon, ATT&T, Covad and a few others.
I originally went with Verizon because my girlfriend had had a Verizon account before anyway, figured it would be easier. But then they charged me $55 for coming back. And then, DSL-wise, Verizon had the shortest time-frame promise. They said a week. It's been almost 30 days now, and obviously I didn't know how their company runs. Earthlink and Covad each said 2 weeks (probably faster, they also said), and I would be fine if I had gone with either of them. But no... I stuck it out with Verizon because I didn't want to have to wait longer.
In the long run I just screwed myself, and here I am 26 days later still without DSL.

Ooh, you had a bad experience. Me, I was shocked it would take two weeks to get DSL working, compared to a cable modem I had installed a few years ago.
My tale of woe: Verizon installed a second line for an office in my house. Afterwards I find out the second also connects to the bedroom. My cost: $91 for a technician to fix a problem they caused in the first place. Thanks Verizon!

We have had nothing but problems with Verizon
we was talked into a contract with false information
boy they sure do beef up the sales pitch!
then when you have a problem they don't want to talk to you to work it out all they want is your money. I really think it is a scam company.
Any way we had a add in the yellow pages to promote our company and we never received one call, they told us we would receive at least 50 calls a month we never received maybe 3 calls from this add our sales rept wouldn't even return our calls then when she did she told us try it for one more month then if things don't change then I will do some thing. Then when we called her back after that month she couldn't help us with our problem. We are now 8,000.00 in Dept to this company and no results. Now they want there money or they will take us to court to sue us!
What about us? We are still trying to fight this but we need some more people behind us so we can take them to court. So if you have any problems with Verizon and would like to join us in this then send me an E-mail with your problems!
We are tired of getting screwed by these big companies and not getting satisfaction.
the collection agencie that is threating us is Berke & Associates.
