48 Hours

posted on march 17, 2003, tag: me

So. Bush says 48 hours. Hussein has to leave (and his sons, no less) Iraq within 48 hours, or we will remove him with military force. Is it even worth writing about how much I despise Bush? Is it even worth mentioning that he's possibly the worst public speaker in the world? That he's willing to go to war because he wants to, regardless of what others think (even his own citizens), or whatever evidence comes forward, or whatever the UN does or doesn't do? That he's saying the US is being made safe from attacks (give me a butt-fucking break)? I mean, what's the fucking point of saying anything anymore?

So. In 48 hours, it's possible we may hear Blinky-McGee say the words that no one in the world should ever have to hear. It's possible, within 50 hours, that we could, for the first time in over 50 years, declare war. Is anyone else in "what the fuck is going on in the fucking world you bunch of stupid mother fuckers, we only have one fucking life you stupid sons of bitches—no matter where the fuck you think you're gonna go afterward, you only have one fucking life—stop all of this bullshit and let me live mine" mood right now? I sure am. I don't even want to write anything else. It's not worth it.

At least they raised the terror alert to 'orange'. That'll save us. They should have raised it to 'we're fucked.'

Rather than incite a riot, I'll only comment on the whole ignoring the UN bit. Despite my belief that action should be multilateral, France, Germany, and Russia (those 3 in particular anyway) have ensured that such action is impossible. Both France and Russia have vested interest in Iraq, and they'd rather have Saddam in power than rock the boat and disturb the flow. That isn't to say that the US is the good-natured avenger of the weak and innocent; far from it. However, the UN has been uneffective in dealing with Saddam and will continue to be so.

Well said. You have not posted one thing about the Iraq butt-fuck until now, but I think you summed up your opinion, which I agree with perfectly.

Really, I would be fine with terrorists targeting the fags that support this war. It's obvious that this country is split, and the people that are saying "leave everybody alone" are the only ones who believe in peace.

And fuck everyone who said we didn't deserve 9/11. Bush said in his bullshit speech that "we" didn't do anything, but we did. "We" have done bullshit like this Iraq conflict for decades in the Middle East. Only difference is this time it's publicized and built up.

When will all these "patriots" realize that we're only asking for more attacks when we do shit like this? Its fucking bullshit, the only problem is that the terrorists don't see the difference between my view point and Bush. I wish they were more selective when they decide on who to suicide bomb.

Steve, that is the most ignorant, offensive, bigoted statement I have ever read regarding this war, let alone on a friendly website. I'm glad to hear you want me dead. Thanks. Preaching tolerance starts with practicing it.

I never, EVER thought I'd say it but...Canada's looking mighty appealing right now...

'...fuck everyone who said we didn't deserve 9/11."

Well, if you simplify things enough that you can look at America as the schoolyard bully who got a bloody nose for pushing to far, then I guess you're right. But things aren't that simple. The majority of the lives lost were those of innocent people who may even have shared your opinions.

Terrorists taking out people with opinions contrary to yours would be as amoral as the American government taking you out for having ideas contrary to theirs.

Steve, saying something like "I agree with you," and then completely saying something different makes me look bad. I don't agree with you. Pretty much at all. Please don't use agreement as a spring board to make your thoughts mine. That's not the way it works.

I should have closed the comments on this entry. I knew the moment I posted it that I made a mistake. Blame dialup. I didn't want to deal with going back to edit it. I will now.

My entry was not about 9/11. My entry was not about terrorism. My entry was only about my anger that I will have to deal with war in my lifetime. I don't like that. Regardless of the reasons, the people, the places, anything. That was my point.
