I've been getting a lot of support email recently asking whether or not xPad is compatible with Tiger. The quick answer is yes—100%. Download it and start working. The long answer is yes, plus Tiger adds new features to xPad:
- Discontinuous selections: You can select some text, then command-drag and select text in another location.
- Column selections: Option-drag to select columns of text.
- Built-in dictionary support: via system services menu, control-click lookup or control-command-d hovering.
These are just a few of the features Tiger users will now get with xPad 1.1. I'm also working on several more additions and features and will have an update soon.

So the musical baton meme has been going around the past few weeks. I was passed the baton last week by Sascha, Paul and Frank, but I haven't had time until now to join in. Here goes:
Total volume of music files on my computer
3.52GB (774 songs, 1.8 days)
The last CD I bought
Song playing right now
Modest Mouse - Gravity Rides Everything
Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me
ABBA - Super Trouper
Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit
Incubus - I Miss You
Incubus - Warning
Bill Withers - Lovely Day
Five people to whom I'm passing the baton
In no particular order:
Shawn
Jeremy
Ellie
Walt
Steven

Today is the last day of the first round of the Amazon.com short film festival. If you have time, please try to find our film, The Egregious Meatball.
Amazon has added a skip button recently, which means you can skip films after 30 seconds. Please, if you can, spend some time today looking for our film. The first round ends at 11:59PM EST tonight.
Happy Birthday, Arm Head Jerk Pain

I turned 24 today. We spent the weekend in Boston to celebrate Paige's college graduation. I spent most of my 24th birthday driving home from Boston. I'm getting old.
Also, the problems I've been having with my wrist and elbow the past 5 years have gotten significantly worse lately—so bad that I've been unable to type or use the mouse or open bottles, et cetera without lots of pain in my arm and shoulder—so I'm having trouble doing anything computer related. I'm typing with one hand, and it's very hard. This entry has taken about 6 minutes so far to type (I won't even mention how many typos I've had to correct (in fact, typing these little notes takes a lot of effort!)).
I'm going to have x-rays and "nerve testing" done this week and hopefully then they'll figure out what to do to make it better. Until then, things will be slow around here.
Tiger Internet Tip

If you've noticed that your internet connection is slow since you installed Tiger, you're not alone. On both of my machines, OS X 10.4 effectively killed my internet connection. I was averaging 100kpbs download, which is very slow compared to normal. I also couldn't do video chats with anyone on iChat unless I tried over and over, and the quality was always awful. Today I found the issue:
Open System Preferences » Network. Go into the properties for your connection and click on the TCP/IP tab. Then click the Configure IPv6 button and set the menu to Off. Click OK and then Apply Now.

In about 10 seconds, your network will hopefully be speedy again. I went from 100kpbs to 700kpbs and I was able to do a 4-way video chat. IPv6 was definitely my issue, and it might just be yours if you've been having internet speed issues.
